The Fantastic Planet

Please critique me on this! I won't be able to get better at drawing unless I know what I need to do to get better at drawing. And although you don't have to, in addition to your critique, I would like to see an example of an artist doing it right, so I can actually see what you're talking about and try to learn from it. Thank you very much in advance.

On a different note, Fantastic Planet is a wonderful French/Czech animated film that deserves much more fan-love than it has. I mean, it's got everything that dA artists love in a film: eerily beautiful imagery, epic quests, strange creatures, philosophical depth, and big blue aliens.
Why isn't there more fan art for this movie, dangit?!?
